Seth Godin

Seth Godin is surely one of the most bad-ass writers, entrepreneurs and marketers out there. I’m probably not the first nor the last to be inspired as hell by him. He is the one that made us aware of our Lizard Brains and taught us how to fight the Resistance. How to feel at peace with our career choices, find the artist within ourselves and how to do the best that human beings can do: to ship!

I’ve gathered some quotes from his books that I’ve found very motivating and probably life-changing for me. Hopefully you’ll like them as well:

“The cost of being wrong is less than the cost of doing nothing.” – Seth Godin (Poke the Box)

“The real problem when working with a consultant, a therapist or a coach isn’t that we don’t know what to do. The real problem is that we don’t want to change our mind.” – Seth Godin (The Icarus Deception)

“You can either fit in or stand out. Not both.” – Seth Godin (Linchpin)

“The only purpose of starting is to finish, and while the projects we do are never really finished, they must ship.” – Seth Godin (Linchpin)

“The lizard isn’t listening and the lizard doesn’t care.” – Seth Godin (Linchpin)

“Life is a buzzer box. Poke it.” – Seth Godin (Poke the Box)

“Creating ideas that spread and connecting the disconnected are the two pillars of our new society, and both of them require the posture of the artist” – Seth Godin (The Icarus Deception)

“Hard work is about risk. It begins when you deal with the things that you’d rather not deal with: fear of failure, fear of standing out, fear of rejection. Hard work is about training yourself to leap over this barrier, tunnel under that barrier, drive through the other barrier. And after you’ve done that, to do it again the next day” – Seth Godin (Whatcha Gonna Do with That Duck?)

“Make a decision. It doesn’t have to be a wise decision or a perfect one. Just make one.” Seth Godin

“You are not your resume, you are your work. “ – Seth Godin

“Wouldn’t it be great to be gifted? In fact… It turns out that choices lead to habits. Habits become talents. Talents are labeled gifts. You’re not born this way, you get this way.” – Seth Godin
